THE WINNERS WERE ANNOUNCED AT THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE TORONTO AUTO SHOW.

TORONTO, Ont. (February 13, 2020)

Today, the Mazda3 was named the 2020 Canadian Car of the Year and the 2020 Jaguar I-Pace Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year, as determined by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada ( AJAC). The Jaguar I-Pace, which had already stood out by becoming the first electric vehicle to win the title in 2019, accomplished another feat by winning the title for a second consecutive year.

These two vehicles received the most important awards of the automotive industry in Canada at the opening ceremony of the Toronto Auto Show. These results were achieved through a multi-month assessment process from coast to coast, led by nearly 70 of the country’s most respected automotive journalists. Ballots are completed anonymously and assess criteria including performance, accessories, technology, design, fuel economy and value for money.

The winners were chosen from the 51 vehicles participating in the program, including category winners from last year and updated or fully redesigned vehicles from this year. More than 1,200 ballots were collected and counted.

”These awards are the most prestigious awards given by AJAC and it is thanks to the concrete evaluation and in-depth expertise of our members that we declare the Masda3 Canadian Car of the Year 2020 and the Jaguar I-PACE , Canadian Vehicle of the Year 2020, ”said Stephanie Wallcraft, AJAC President.

“AJAC journalists are among the most critical and best-informed automotive professionals in the country. The fact that these two vehicles have won the honors following our rigorous evaluation process means that they are truly the best vehicles available on the Canadian market. “*
