Mazda unveiled its very first all-electric vehicle, the new Mazda MX-30, last week.

The unveiling took place at the Tokyo Auto Show and while this is actually Mazda’s second EV (the first was the Mazda Demio offered only in Japan in small quantities in 2012), it will be the first Mass-consumption electric model from the Japanese manufacturer. Obviously, being a Mazda product it will be a lot of fun to drive in addition to offering many features taken from older Mazda rotary engine vehicles. The Mazda MX-30’s electric motor will be powered by a 35.5 kWh battery, but Mazda could also offer a range extender that would actually be a rotary Wankel engine. The other thing that stands out on the Mazda MX-30 is its rear suicide doors that provide easier access to the cabin. Speaking of the cabin, that of the electric Mazda MX-30 consists of a fully digital center console as well as a new platform with a state-of-the-art gear lever.

The Mazda MX-30 will hit the market next year!
