Fall is going to be a very exciting time at Mazda this year, as a brand new model is about to make its debut, the all-electric 2022 Mazda MX-30 SUV.
Yes, all-electric: Mazda is entering the green era with an SUV that promises to be a big hit.

The 2022 Mazda MX-30 arrived at L’Ami Junior Mazda
AN SUV WITH SPORTY STYLE
First, a word about the size. The MX-30 adopts roughly the same proportions as the CX-30 subcompact SUV that made its debut last year. However, it takes on a decidedly sportier look.
This is evident from the profile, which is more coupe-like, and also from the rear end, which is rounded and very stylish.
The latter is inspired by the approach taken with the sporty MX-5, hence the use of the letter M in the nomenclature. The main feature of the design is the rear doors that open in opposite directions to the front ones. This feature is not a first for Mazda; let’s remember the last generation RX-8.
The Mazda MX-30 will be served by a 35.5 kWh battery, which will translate into 143 horsepower. This will be sent to the front wheels. As for the autonomy, it is estimated at 161 kilometres. This equipment naturally makes this vehicle eligible for all current government incentives.
However, Mazda had to take some criticism with its range, because competing models offer more at this level. However, it is important to remember this; the vast majority of daily trips are less than 161 kilometres, so the MX-30 will allow its owners the same electric freedom and range on a daily basis. Sometimes you have to look beyond the numbers.
Mazda dealerships in Canada will initially receive two versions of the MX-30, the GS and GT models, both generously equipped.
2022 MAZDA MX-30 GS
The GS variant of the 2022 Mazda MX-30 will deliver everything you need in terms of features and technology.
At the centre console, we are going to find an 8.8-inch screen for the multimedia system. All the elements we are used to using on a daily basis will be there, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps. MazdaConnect connected services will also be part of it. As for traditional equipment, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, heated steering wheel, heated front seats and mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, navigation, satellite radio, in short, we will lack nothing on board.
Better yet, safety was a top priority in the design of this first all-electric model. The MX-30 will come standard with the iActivesense suite. This includes several safety features such as adaptive radar cruise control, blind spot and rear cross-traffic alerts, lane departure warning, driver attention alert, as well as head-up display, automatic low beams, and traffic sign recognition.
2022 MAZDA MX-30 GT
Of course, when you upgrade to the GT model, you get more features, whether it is luxury or safety. For example, the blind spot assist feature doesn’t just warn you, it can also put you back in your lane, if necessary.
Still, with this version, you will get a greater sense of luxury, including 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, a sunroof, a 360-degree screen for low-speed maneuvering, and a Bose audio system with 4 additional speakers for a total of 12. And, because of its vocation, there will be a greater use of materials from recycled products, especially plastic. It can make up to 20% of the surfaces.
In closing, if all this sounds attractive, that’s because it is.
At L’Ami Junior Mazda, we can’t wait to get behind the wheel of this new model, because we know how much you will like it. Mazda’s DNA has that little something that seduces. We are waiting for you!
